THE AFRICA SKILLS MOBILISATION PROGRAMME:

This program is designed to mobilize and deploy African skills and expertise from within and outside Africa, to support Africa’s transformational agenda. It has three components namely,

The Africa Skills Connect

The African Summit

Is a major annual event that brings together top African experts and professionals, to dialogue on finding practical solutions to key developmental challenges confronting Africa, and also serves as a networking forum for members of the Africa Skills Bank

The African Executive Service

Provides an institutional mechanism for deploying African professionals and experts (particularly those registered on the African Skills Bank), to provide strategic management and technical advisory services to both public and private sector entities in Africa, based on specific requests.

THE AFRICA GROWTH VENTURE FUND (AGVF):

The AGVF is an Africa focused Impact Investment Fund that provides a broad range of financing mechanisms (e.g. private equity, venture capital and structured debt financing) to support existing as well as new large scale, medium and high potential small enterprises. The AGVF focuses on investments that add value to the natural resources of the continent, such as agro-processing, light manufacturing and the processing of minerals that have high local demand, high potential to generate significant levels of foreign exchange, create massive employment particularly in rural communities, as well as promote multiple linkages between different economic sectors. The Fund’s target optimal initial capital is $100 million, with a total capitalization of up to $150 million depending on investor interest. The term limit of the Fund is10 years, with an investment period of 5 years.

THE CONTINENTAL AFRICAN TRADE INITIATIVE:

This initiative is a comprehensive program designed to facilitate and enhance intra African trade. It incorporates the establishment of African Export Trade Houses and an e-commerce platform for Africa; enhancing access to trade finance for African companies seeking to export their products within Africa; establishing a continent wide Single Window Trade Facilitation mechanism; and implementing a continental Standards Regulation and Certification Program for ‘Made in Africa’ products. The initiative is in line with the objectives of the Continental Free Trade Area for Africa scheduled to be launched in 2017 under the auspices of the African Union.
